Pursue - Day 6

Pursue...Day 6

Prayer Prompt: Pray for difficult relationships and situations in your life or the lives of loved ones.

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” Colossians 4:12-14

To make praying a consistent habit and priority, set a specific time (and maybe even a timer at the beginning to remind you) for focused and intentional prayer. This doesn’t mean that this is the only time you will pray. Prayer needs to be a built-in habit throughout the day. But because of the way our brains are wired, if we set aside as little as 10 minutes each day to pray, we will develop a praying life that is more consistent than if we pray sporadically throughout the week. Remember: Don’t make it legalistic. Praying isn’t about duty; it’s about delight! He sees your heart and is moved by your desire to spend time with Him in prayer.

Lord, You’ve called us Your own, chosen to be holy and dearly loved. You’ve asked us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience so that when we deal with difficult people or painful situations, we can do so in a way that shows honor to You and love to them. Help us make allowances for each other’s faults, forgiving anyone who has offended us. Jesus, You are the perfect example of how we are to love. You are gentle and lowly in heart, and we pray that You will give us the same humility, meekness, and strength of character when dealing with difficult people and situations. By Your Spirit’s power, give us self-control in our words, thoughts, and actions. Bring restoration and healing where needed.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
